Prior engines taught conversion of failure into a larger mandate. This layer is the inverse product: conversion of a candidate’s own recorded asks into a ceiling. A boomlet among a subset (oddsmakers, primary enthusiasts) is not treated as proof of fitness; it is treated as a reminder that the median still carries unfavorables, and that opponents will “bombard” the undecided with a stacked file.

The file is not one crisis. It is an inventory of dated passions—defund-as-literal, ICE as fascist origin, Green New Deal as whole-economy rewrite, engineered-famine and apartheid labels, billionaires-should-not-exist, HQ2 blocked—each paired with a later metric or electoral odor. The warrant is not “pause the system.” It is “she cannot retail a conversion because none occurred.” True-belief is sold as the failure mode: wisdom deficit, not a competing safer program.

A bridging note: where existential naming once made a person too dangerous to wait out, here naming is retrospective—the person is too loaded with yesterday’s slogans to be allowed a national translation. Presentist bias is the forecast engine: what animates the activist class now will look like Spanberger’s “never say defund again” two years later. Israel and Gaza claims are checked against later child-weight statistics; Amazon’s Virginia jobs are cited as the opportunity cost of “saving” Brooklyn from displacement. Metrics do not enlarge her mandate; they are used to falsify it.

The product is electoral, not extra-official. No collaborator talk, no silent capture, no boutique feed as factory. Selection is ordinary: partisan Democrats who “forgot the baggage” versus open-minded voters who will be shown it. Failure mode for the original coalition is overfit to a high-rage subset; failure mode for this article is that inventory-as-disqualification can itself become a fad if the median’s memory is shorter than the file.

Open problem: when both sides treat the other’s recorded speech as irreversible character, dialogue is unnecessary without ever being named as spoilage.

• “Woke 1” laugh-off is read as memory-hole attempt, so humor itself becomes evidence of unreformed belief.

Techniques

• Refresher-for-partisans: address the in-group as forgetful so the file can be re-aired without new events.

• Companion-document burn: cite the GND FAQ and staff “entire-economy” line as the real ask that the electorate already rejected.

• Spanberger echo: recycle an in-party post-loss scolding as proof the brand is already toxic inside the coalition.

• Later-statistic closer: pair genocide/famine talk with subsequent child obesity figures to recode intent claims as closed eyes.

• Property-rights jump: “billionaires shouldn’t exist” glossed as hostility to constitutional protections, not a tax rate. Questions

• Does baggage inventory deter elevation or merely train the subset to treat all recorded maximalism as unforgivable?

• When contrary metrics refute existential naming, does the original coalition update or only the opposition’s file grow?
