Demagoguery on this spine converts failure—recorded, forecast, personified, conversational, or inventoried as personal baggage—into a larger or blocking mandate: contrary metrics can intensify an ask or falsify it; halt and purity can be products that refuse competition; named persons can be irreversibility or damaged goods; contact can be spoilage or simply unused; institutions and feeds may select against dialogue or merely re-air a file so a boomlet never becomes a median, while true-belief is treated as the reason no conversion can be retailed.

Concepts

Failure-as-warrant: using a program’s bad outcomes as the reason to expand the program.
Irreversibility argument: “too many to reverse” (deportations, fare norms, rental stock) as a substitute for justification.
Preemptive response: actors (landlords, fare-payers, taxpayers, officers) changing behavior in anticipation of the next rule, which then “proves” the next rule.
Attrition politics: achieving downsizing of police, landlords, or taxpayers by exit rather than explicit repeal.
State as non-firm: an institution that can grow when its product worsens, because it taxes rather than sells.
Crisis utilization: treating social and economic breakdown as a resource for further control (Lenin cited as the extreme statement of the habit).
Forecast-as-warrant: using unbounded future catastrophe (not a closed metric) as sufficient reason to freeze production and enlarge political veto.
Controller substitution: replacing private builders with politicians whose historical record is itself catastrophic, without a working substitute product.
Unilateral pause / rival continuation: a freeze that reallocates capability to non-pausing states, then cites that reallocation as proof of further control.
Irreversibility-in-advance: “not too late” / “machines humans cannot control” as a preemptive version of “too many to reverse.”
Safety-by-halt as non-firm product: an institution that grows by selling delay and licensing rather than by selling a safer system that must compete.
Existential naming: treating a specific person (Trump, Kirk, Thompson) as unbounded catastrophe rather than as a closed, measurable policy object.
Channel exit: “voting is not enough” as the moment forecast-as-warrant leaves elections for force.
Rhetoric-as-selection: repeated threat talk does not move the median listener equally; it filters for the subset that operationalizes the claim.
Person-as-irreversibility: the opponent is framed as too dangerous to wait out, a personal version of “not too late.”
Private-target extension: including a CEO alongside politicians so the same warrant can attach to firms and speech, not only officeholders.
Contact-as-spoilage: a meeting with the rival is framed as product failure, not as information or bargaining.
Rage-as-inventory: hostility must stay “classic” and undiluted; compromise is sold as knockoff that causes withdrawal.
Post-win silent capture: expand or abolish institutions after victory, with an explicit ban on campaigning the change.
Boutique feed as factory: a low-rivalry platform that manufactures the audience for whom non-meeting is identity.
Faction co-option without program: hotter abolitionism is tolerated as fuel if it does not cost the election.
Baggage inventory: stacking expired slogans and bills as a portable liability that outlives the news cycle.
Boomlet/median split: subset enthusiasm (markets, activists) cited only to contrast national unfavorables and “open-minded” targets.
Presentist-bias forecast: today’s coalition passion predicted to become tomorrow’s unforced error, analogized to defund’s odor.
Conversion-narrative denial: true-believer status used to block any claim of learning; no persuasive conversion if none exists.
Metric-as-refutation: later jobs, poll shares, or health stats used to close famine, apartheid, or “help” claims rather than to enlarge a mandate.

Tensions

Fare abolition talk versus fare evasion and subsidy demand.
Anti-police posture versus officer flight that delivers the downsizing the posture wanted.
Daily “loss of control” stories versus a pause that does not bind China or other developers, increasing relative loss of control.
Humanity-scale safety rhetoric versus crippling domestic innovators as the operational content of “AI safety.”
Preemptive talent and capital flight from expected pause, used to justify tighter capture of remaining labs.
Catastrophe as reason to empower the class of actors Chartrand identifies as historically catastrophe-producing.
Humanity-scale or democracy-scale safety talk versus a product that licenses individual violence against named civilians.
Claim that the named figures are uniquely existential versus a list that mixes office, punditry, and corporate management without a shared metric.
Official institutions asked to grow after failure versus listeners told those institutions are already illegitimate, so growth happens off-books.
Preemptive private flight in earlier cases (talent, capital, officers) versus preemptive militant approach in this case—opposite direction, same warrant structure.
Dialogue would falsify total-enemy claims, so the strategy must treat talk as the greater threat than losing on policy.
Court-packing and collaborator talk grow state instruments while the same voices treat current institutions as already illegitimate.
Boutique scale is smaller than the open rival network, yet is cited as the true public of the coalition.

“Woke 1” laugh-off is read as memory-hole attempt, so humor itself becomes evidence of unreformed belief.

Techniques

Purity-of-product metaphor: drug/brand analogies that recode politics as trafficking in undiluted affect.
Collaborator pre-label: WWII punishment talk attached to present-tense meetings, not to postwar trials.
Don’t-run-just-do-it: conceal constitutional change until control of presidency and both houses.
Small-difference laundering: erase program gaps (abolish Senate vs. lead Senate) under a win-first umbrella.
Protected-zone praise: celebrate a feed whose design removes the voices that would force metric talk.
Refresher-for-partisans: address the in-group as forgetful so the file can be re-aired without new events.
Companion-document burn: cite the GND FAQ and staff “entire-economy” line as the real ask that the electorate already rejected.
Spanberger echo: recycle an in-party post-loss scolding as proof the brand is already toxic inside the coalition.
Later-statistic closer: pair genocide/famine talk with subsequent child obesity figures to recode intent claims as closed eyes.
Property-rights jump: “billionaires shouldn’t exist” glossed as hostility to constitutional protections, not a tax rate.

Open questions

Do right-coalition versions use the same forecast-as-warrant (e.g., pause on other techs, or emergency powers) or a different controller substitution?
Which audience filters treat geopolitical non-pause as irrelevant rather than as falsification of a humanity-wide halt?
What share of the named “existential” coverage is coordinated coalition payoff versus sincere tail-risk belief?
Does an equivalent right-coalition naming list (different persons, same gun-line) appear at comparable density, or is the selection effect asymmetric in this period?
How should one separate media selection of incidents from the causal effect of the rhetoric Joy describes?
When the target is a private executive, is the mechanism still demagoguery-for-state or a transfer of the warrant to extra-state enforcement?
Is right-coalition “no talks” talk isomorphic, or does it substitute a different purity object (borders, speech, churches)?
What share of boutique-feed intensity is platform design versus prior self-sorting of high-rage users?
When silent capture is announced in advance, does it deter thaw or merely select for listeners already past dialogue?
Does collaborator rhetoric remain extra-official, or does it migrate into formal party rules on who may meet whom?
How to separate media amplification of one strategist’s trance from coalition-wide selection for non-meeting?
Does baggage inventory deter elevation or merely train the subset to treat all recorded maximalism as unforgivable?
When contrary metrics refute existential naming, does the original coalition update or only the opposition’s file grow?
